1. What is the legal age to marry in Fiji?
The legal age is below 75 years, otherwise written consent is required from parents with confirmation from a JP if under the age of 21 however the minimum age for males is 18 years and 18 years for females, with the consent from their father (mother, in the event where father is deceased)
2. How do I apply for a marriage license in Fiji?
Marriage Certificates are available from Head Office of the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages in Suva, the Divisional Registrar Offices either in Nadi, Lautoka or Labasa or any of the District Offices in Fiji.
3. How much does the Marriage License cost?
Special license: for pricing please contact us directly, individual wedding packages vary from resort to resort. There may also be a charge for transfers to/from the Registrar’s Office.
What documentation do I need to get married in Fiji?
– birth certificates
– 2x passport size photos
– divorce papers (if previously married)
– death certificate of spouse if widowed
– a confirmatory letter of current marital status where the couple resides or a statutory declaration signed by a Justice of the Peace or Solicitor to prove he/she has not entered into a marriage before.
Have an entire resort to yourself
In Fiji, wedding parties are often able to take over an entire resort for total privacy or just the two of you on a picnic on an exclusive coral atoll.
How many days should we arrive in Fiji before our wedding day?
We recommend allowing at least 3 working days in Fiji to finalise your preparations and obtain the marriage license. Remember to check on Public Holidays when planning your travel arrangements and allow an extra day if necessary. The Bridal couple must fax or email the legal documents to the Registrar’s Office two weeks prior to their arrival in Fiji. The legal documents needs to be emailed to the wedding coordinator and not direct to the registrar office, we (wedding coordinator) will run it with registrar office.
What size group can Fiji Resort cater for?
Whatever size you have there is a Resort that can cater for you. From just yourself and your partner through to groups of more than 100 people we can advise on options for your group size.
Fiji provides an idyllic escape from the pressure of organising the wedding at home. Most resorts have a selection of wedding packages from which to choose.
What is usually included in a wedding package?
Each Resort has its own wedding packages. Some will have a choice of a basic package right through to all the extras. Most Resorts will have a starting package and optional extras (eg. Bouquets for bridesmaids, hair and make-up etc).
Frequency of flights
There are frequent flights to and from Fiji with our national airline, Fiji Airways as well as Air New Zealand, Korean Air, Pacific Blue and Qantas.
Fiji enjoys a pleasant, tropical two-season climate. Summer temperature averages from 22 to 33 degrees Celsius and winter averages from 19 to 29 degrees Celsius.
